The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is seeking
applications for a Deputy Chief of Police for the office of Police
and Public Safety. This is a full-time, permanent staff position.
UNC Charlotte Police & Public Safety is a fully authorized
state police agency, providing both police and security services to
a campus of 28,000 students, faculty and staff.
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree or
Bachelor’s degree with equivalent experience. Ten years experience
in law enforcement with 5 years of police command experience at the
rank of captain or above. Five years of sworn campus law
Essential Job Duties: This is a sworn position
and serve as the Deputy Chief of Police. The Deputy Chief of Police
will supervise the Support Services Captain, Patrol Division
Captain, the Criminal Intelligence / Community Oriented Policing
Lieutenant and will serve as the Internal Affairs Commander and
The Deputy Chief reports to the Chief of Police and is considered a
senior member of the Department’s executive command staff (composed
of the Chief of Police, Deputy Chief, and Captains). The Deputy
Chief will serve as the Chief of Police in these staff members’
absence. Oversight of all Departmental operations to ensure
compliance with all applicable laws and standards.
